Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If the necessary measures are not taken before servicing an electric vehicle, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death. Before servicing the electric vehicle, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and take the necessary steps. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Outline

Malfunction symptom

Quick charging does not finish

Description
•  The charge indicator flashes in green even though the high voltage battery level indication in the instrument cluster indicates full charge.
Possible cause
Note
•  The time required to charge the high voltage battery differs depending on the ambient temperature, high voltage battery temperature, state of charge, and years of use. In particular, charging takes longer under conditions in which the high voltage battery temperature and the ambient temperature are low.
Full charge cannot be recognized:
•  The BECM cannot recognize the charge level.
―  BECM related DTCs detected
Charge indicator display malfunction:
•  Charge port-electrical supply unit malfunction
•  Charge indicator malfunction
•  CAN communication error
―  BECM related DTCs detected
―  PCM related DTCs detected
Communication error with quick charge system:
•  The charging status cannot be sent to and from the quick charge system.
―  CPLT signal circuit malfunction
―  Quick charge system malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If necessary measures such as wearing the correct protective gear are not taken when inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death.
•  Before inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and [High Voltage Part Inspection and Removal/Installation Notes] of the high voltage system service cautions and implement the necessary measures and preparations. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.) (See HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
VERIFY PCM AND BECM DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspections for the following modules.
―  PCM
―  BECM
•  Is a DTC displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT CHARGE INDICATOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Using the M-MDS, display the PCM simulation item [CHG_STAT_IND].
•  When the simulation item [CHG_STAT_IND] is on, verify the charge indicator illumination status.
•  Does the charge indicator illumination switch in the order of white, green, amber, and red?
Yes
Explain to the customer that the malfunction is on the quick charge system side, and perform the repair completion verification.
No
Wear insulating gloves and repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes
Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain repair contents to customer.)
No
Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
