ELECTRIC DRIVING SYSTEM

Outline

•  The electric driving system enables the vehicle to drive forward/in reverse by converting the electrical energy of the high voltage battery to kinetic energy to rotate the drive wheels.
•  During regenerative braking, by regenerating the vehicle’s kinetic energy using regenerative braking by the motor, it is converted to electrical energy, which charges the high voltage battery.

Structural View

•  The electric driving system consists of the following parts.

Reference

Inverter (Drive motor control module)
(See INVERTER.)
Electric motor

Operation

During driving

1.  The direct current power of the high voltage battery is supplied to the inverter.

2.  The electrical power is converted from direct current power to alternating current power by the inverter and the alternating current power is supplied to the motor.

3.  The motor is driven by the supplied alternating current power, and the motor power is transmitted to the EV transaxle.

4.  The motor rotation is decelerated by the EV transaxle and the amplified drive force is transmitted to the drive wheels to drive the vehicle.

During regenerative braking

1.  The rotation of the drive wheels is transmitted to the transaxle.

2.  The force transmitted from the EV transaxle rotates the electric motor.

3.  The alternating current power is generated by the motor rotation and it is transmitted to the inverter.

4.  The alternating current power is converted to direct current power by the inverter to charge the high voltage battery.
