Warning

•  Using a utility knife with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using a utility knife.

Caution

•  When the rear door is closed, the rear door glass may hit the quarter window glass molding, crack the sealant, and the rear door glass may not be properly installed. Keep the rear door open until you have finished installing the rear door glass.

1.  Clean then degrease along the perimeter of the bonding area on the rear door glass.

Caution

•  To prevent weakening of the primer adhesion, keep the bonding surface free of dirt, moisture, and grease. Do not touch the surface with your hand.

2.  Apply primer to the rear door glass in the area shown in the figure.

•  Follow the primer product instructions for the drying time.

Note

•  Apply primer to the hollowed marks in the ceramic coating.

3.  Cut away the old sealant using a utility knife or scraper so that a 1—2 mm {0.04—0.07 in} thickness of sealant remains along the perimeter on the rear door panel side.

4.  Clean then degrease along the perimeter of the bonding area on the rear door panel.

5.  Apply primer to the rear door panel in the area shown in the figure.

•  Follow the primer product instructions for the drying time.

6.  Install the fastener at the position shown in the figure.

7.  Apply sealant to the rear door glass surface shown in the figure.

8.  Insert the pin into the rear door panel and install the rear door glass.

9.  Press all around the rear door glass so that the gap between the rear door panel and the rear door glass is within the range shown in the figure.

10.  Install the rear door glass weatherstrip. (See Rear Door Glass Weatherstrip Installation Note.)

11.  Install the following parts.

(1)  Rear door upper trim (See REAR DOOR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Rear door lower trim (See REAR DOOR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Rear sash molding (See REAR SASH MOLDING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Rear door garnish (See REAR DOOR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

12.  Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

13.  Allow the sealant to harden completely.

Note

•  Follow the product instructions for the sealant hardening time.

Rear Door Glass Weatherstrip Installation Note

•  Install the rear door glass weatherstrip so that it is oriented as shown in the figure.

•  Align the end of the rear door glass weatherstrip with the notch in the rear door panel.
