WALK IN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling a seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 1.  Remove the driver's front seat installation bolts. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Switch the ignition off.

3.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

4.  Verify if the ground plate needs to be disconnected and if it does, disconnect it. (See GROUND PLATE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the driver's front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Place a clean cloth and insert the remover tool between the seat leather and the walk in switch outer bezel as shown in the figure.

7.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the walk in switch outer bezel tab from the walk in switch bracket.

Caution

•  After removal, if the walk in switch outer bezel is damaged or deformed, replace it with a new one.

8.  Remove the front seat back trim and front seat back pad. (See FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the screws from the seat upper frame, disconnect the connector and remove the walk in switch bracket.

10.  Remove the screws from the walk in switch bracket and remove the walk in switch inner bezel and the walk in switch.

11.  Insert the remover tool between the walk in switch inner bezel and the walk in switch.

12.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to detach the four tabs and remove the walk in switch.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
