Gear position indicator light illuminate in P, R and N position
DESCRIPTION
•  Gear position indicator light in instrument cluster illuminates in P, R and N position with the ignition switch at ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  M range switch (built-in selector lever), TR switch, instrument cluster, or related wiring harness malfunction
Note
•  Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transaxle ON-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See BASIC INSPECTION [SJ6A-EL].)

•  With the ignition switch at ON position.
•  When selector lever is moved, does selector illumination indicate synchronized position to lever location?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the TR switch.

•  Inspect the TR PID value using the M-MDS.
•  Is the TR PID value normal?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Adjust the TR switch.
•  Reinspect the TR PID value.
•  Is the TR PID value normal?
Yes
Symptom troubleshooting is completed. (TR switch is mis-adjustment.)
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the TR switch.
•  Is the TR switch normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair the wiring harness between TCM terminal 2N/2O/2M/2K and TR switch.
No
Replace the TR switch.

•  Inspect the MNL SW PID value using the M-MDS.
•  Is the MNL SW PID value normal?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the M range switch.
•  Is the M range switch normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair the wiring harness between TCM terminal 2G and selector lever component terminal B.
No
Replace the selector lever component.

•  Inspect the instrument cluster.
•  Is the instrument cluster normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.

•  Verify test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM. (See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL].)
