Transmission overheats
|
DESCRIPTION
|
• Burnt smell is emitted from the transmission.
• Smoke is emitted from the transmission.
|
POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• The malfunction is restricted to the hindrance of coolant at the oil cooler. In addition, overheating of the transmission may be caused by a malfunction of the TFT sensor.

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results.

• Inspect the TFT sensor and related wiring harness (vibration, intermittent open/short circuit).
• Is it normal?

Go to the next step.

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results.

• Inspect the line pressure control solenoid.
• Is it normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the control valve body.
|

• Inspect for bending, damage, corrosion or kinks of the oil cooler pipes.
• Are oil cooler pipes normal?
|
Yes
|
Overhaul the transmission and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts.
