DTC	U0401:00		CAN system communication error
DETECTION CONDITION		•  Error detected in signal from PCM via CAN communication
POSSIBLE CAUSE		•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT FOR PCM MALFUNCTION •  Turn the ignition switch off. •  Using the M-MDS, perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [ZJ, ZY].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].) •  Are any DTCs detected?	Yes	Go to applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [ZJ, ZY].) (See DTC TABLE [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].) (See DTC TABLE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].) DTC troubleshooting completed., then go to the next step.
		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED •  Clear the DTC from the memory. (See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.) •  Is the same DTC present? (See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)	Yes	Replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].) (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].) (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
