DTC U3003:16/U3003:17 [BCM]

Malfunction Location

•  DTC U3003:16 BCM power supply voltage low (less than 10 V).
•  DTC U3003:17 BCM power supply voltage high (16 V or more).

Detection Condition

•  BCM power supply voltage is other than 10–16V

Possible Causes

•  Battery malfunction
•  D/L 20 A fuse malfunction
•  HAZARD 10 A fuse malfunction
•  Generator system malfunction
•  Short or open circuit to ground or power supply in wiring harness between positive battery terminal and BCM terminals 1J or 1P
•  Short or open circuit to power supply in wiring harness between BCM terminal 2P and body ground
•  BCM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are DTCs U3003:16, U3003:17 displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

BATTERY INSPECTION
•  Refer to the battery inspection and inspect the battery.
•  Is the battery normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace or charge the battery, then go to the final step.

FUSE INSPECTION
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Remove the D/L 20 A and HAZARD 10 A fuses.
•  Are the fuses normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace either the D/L 20 A or HAZARD 10 A fuses, then go to the final step.

VERIFY WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND BCM FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Install the D/L 20 A and HAZARD 10 A fuses.
•  Remove the dashboard under cover (passenger's side).
•  Remove the front scuff plate (passenger's side).
•  Remove the front side trim (passenger's side).
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the voltage of the BCM terminal 1J and terminal1P.
•  Is the voltage between 10—15.9 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness, then go to the final step.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN BCM AND BODY GROUND
•  Inspect the wiring harness between BCM connector terminal 2P and body ground.
―  Short to power supply
―  Open circuit
•  Is the wiring harness normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the wiring harness between the BCM and body ground, then go to the final step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Connect the BCM connector.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are DTCs U3003:16, U3003:17 displayed?
Yes
Replace the BCM.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
