DTC P0088:00	Fuel pressure - too high
DETECTION CONDITION	• The PCM monitors the fuel pressure using the fuel pressure sensor. If the fuel pressure sensor output voltage remains exceeded 0.609 V after starting or stopping the engine, the PCM determines that the fuel pressure is too high.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• Clogging in fuel return line • Fuel pressure sensor malfunction (built-in common rail) • Fuel injection pump learned values reset improper • Fuel metering valve malfunction (built-in fuel pump) • Supply pump malfunction • PCM malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitors the fuel pressure using the fuel pressure sensor. If the fuel pressure sensor output voltage remains exceeded 0.609 V after starting or stopping the engine, the PCM determines that the fuel pressure is too high.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Clogging in fuel return line

• Fuel pressure sensor malfunction (built-in common rail)

• Fuel injection pump learned values reset improper

• Fuel metering valve malfunction (built-in fuel pump)

• Supply pump malfunction

• PCM malfunction

STEP	INSPECTION	ACTION
1	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED • Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
No	Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related service repair information availability. • Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC • Switch the ignition to off, then to ON (engine off). • Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Is the following PENDING CODE/DTC also present? ― P0192:00, P0193:00, P0251:00, P0253:00, P0254:00	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC P0192:00 [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See DTC P0193:00 [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See DTC P0251:00 [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See DTC P0253:00 [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See DTC P0254:00 [MZ-CD 1.6].)
No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT FUEL RETURN LINE • Switch the ignition to off. • Inspect for fuel clogging in the following fuel return lines: ― Fuel injectors and fuel return line manifold ― Supply pump and fuel return line manifold • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace suspect fuel return line, then go to Step 7.
No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR • Inspect the fuel pressure sensor. • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the common rail, then go to Step 7. (See COMMON RAIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)
No	Go to the next step.
6	PERFORM FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. • Perform the FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET. (See FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition. • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the supply pump. (Fuel pressure regulator or fuel metering valve malfunction) Then go to the next step.
No	Go to Step 8.
7	VERIFY THAT DTC P0088:00 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. • Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition. • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].) Go to the next step.
No	Go to the next step.
8	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Perform the after repair procedure. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [MZ-CD 1.6].)
No	DTC troubleshooting completed.

Yes

Go to the next step.

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.

• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

• Switch the ignition to off, then to ON (engine off).

• Is the following PENDING CODE/DTC also present?

― P0192:00, P0193:00, P0251:00, P0253:00, P0254:00

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

INSPECT FUEL RETURN LINE

• Switch the ignition to off.

• Inspect for fuel clogging in the following fuel return lines:

― Fuel injectors and fuel return line manifold

― Supply pump and fuel return line manifold

• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace suspect fuel return line, then go to Step 7.

Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

• Inspect the fuel pressure sensor.

• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the common rail, then go to Step 7.

Go to the next step.

PERFORM FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET

• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.

• Perform the FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET.

(See FUEL INJECTION PUMP LEARNED VALUES RESET [MZ-CD 1.6].)

• Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.

• Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Replace the supply pump.

(Fuel pressure regulator or fuel metering valve malfunction)

Then go to the next step.

Go to Step 8.

VERIFY THAT DTC P0088:00 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED

• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.

• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.

• Is the same DTC present?

Yes
