OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5]

Warning
•  Hot engines and engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.
•  A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.
•  Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

3.  Perform the following procedure.

Without set bolt
1.  Remove the fresh-air duct and the air cleaner as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)
With set bolt
1.  Set the air cleaner cover out of the way. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)
2.  Remove the fresh-air duct and the air cleaner case as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

4.  Remove the ignition coils. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

5.  Disconnect the ventilation hose. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

6.  Remove the vacuum hose bracket installation bolt, then the vacuum hose out of the way.

7.  Set the cooler pipe and the cooler hose out of the way. (With A/C) (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

8.  Remove the OCV. (See OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

9.  Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

10.  Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

11.  Remove the generator. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

12.  Remove the water pump. (See WATER PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

13.  Remove the timing chain. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

14.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

16.  Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

17.  Start the engine and confirm that there is no oil leakage.

•  If there is oil leakage, repair or replace the applicable part.

18.  Inspect the oil level. (See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

19.  Inspect for engine coolant leakage. (See ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

20.  Inspect for the ignition timing and idle speed. (See ENGINE TUNE-UP [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

21.  Inspect the oil pressure. (See OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

1.  Install the gasket to the oil pump using the oil pump gasket tabs (2 locations).
