RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6]

Warning
•  Never remove the cooling system cap or loosen the radiator drain plug while the engine is running, or when the engine and radiator are hot. Scalding engine coolant and steam may shoot out and cause serious injury. It may also damage the engine and cooling system.
•  Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool. Even then, be very careful when removing the cap. Wrap a thick cloth around it and slowly turn it counterclockwise 2.5 turns. Step back while the pressure escapes.
•  When you are sure all the pressure is gone, turn the cap using the cloth, and remove it.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove the fresh air duct, air cleaner and air hose component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.6].)

4.  Remove the cooling fan component. (See COOLING FAN MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

5.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

6.  Install in the reverse order of the removal.

7.  Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.6].)

8.  Inspect for engine coolant leakage. (See ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

Coolant Reserve Tank Hose Removal Note

1.  Perform the following steps to disconnect the coolant reserve tank hose.

(1)  Press the retainer tabs in the directions of the arrows shown in the figure on both the left and right sides of the retainer.

(2)  Pull the hose in the direction shown in the figure with the retainer tabs pressed, and disconnect it.


Upper Mount Rubber Bracket Removal Note

1.  Remove the front bumper fitting bolt as shown in the figure.

Caution
•  To prevent damage to the upper mount rubber bracket tab, do not apply excessive force.
Note
•  The upper mount rubber bracket can be easily removed by pressing down the upper mount rubber bracket tab using one hand and pressing the notch area downward using the other hand.

2.  While pressing down the upper mount rubber bracket tab lightly in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure, press the upper mount rubber bracket toward the vehicle front.

3.  Remove the upper mount rubber bracket.


Radiator Removal Note

1.  Remove the radiator from below the engine compartment.


Coolant Reserve Tank Hose Installation Note

1.  Perform the following steps to connect the coolant reserve tank hose.

(1)  Insert the coolant reserve tank hose with the retainer depression pointed to the vehicle left.

(2)  Lightly pull and push the coolant reserve tank hose a few times by hand, and then verify that it is connected securely.
