DESCRIPTION
•  M range position indicator light in instrument cluster does not illuminate in M range or M range position indicator light in instrument cluster in D range with the ignition at ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  M range switch (built-in selector lever component), instrument cluster, or related wiring harness malfunction
Note
•  Before following troubleshooting steps, make sure that Automatic Transaxle On-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [FN4A-EL].) (See BASIC INSPECTION [FN4A-EL].)

Diagnostic procedure

Inspect the MNL SW PID value using the M-MDS.
Is the PID value normal?
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
Go to the next step.

Inspect the M range switch.
Is the M range switch normal?
Yes
Inspect the wiring harness between PCM terminal 1N and selector lever component terminal A.
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection results.
No
Replace the selector lever component.

Retrieve the instrument cluster DTC using the M-MDS.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Verify the M range position indicator light using the M-MDS simulation function WL+IL.
Replace the instrument cluster, if necessary.

•  Verify the test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZY, Z6].)
