OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6]

Warning
•  Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.
•  A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.
•  Continuous exposure to used engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.

1.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3.  Remove the under cover and splash shield as a single unit.

4.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

5.  Set the coolant reserve tank out of the way.

6.  Remove the power steering fluid tank with the hoses still connected.

7.  Remove the power steering oil pump with the hoses and pipes still connected. (See POWER STEERING OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, Z6].)

8.  Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor connector. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

9.  Set the oil control valve (OCV) wiring harness out of the way.

10.  Set the accelerator cable bracket out of the way. (without throttle valve actuator)

11.   Remove the following parts.

(1)  Front tire (RH)
(2)  Drive belt (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
(3)  Air cleaner case, PCM component, and fresh air duct (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
(4)  Ignition coil (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
(5)  Generator (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
(6)  Water pump (See WATER PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
(7)  Timing chain (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

12.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

14.  Add the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

15.  Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.

•  If the oil leaks, specify the malfunctioning part and repair or replace it.

16.  Inspect the oil pressure. (See OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

17.  Inspect the oil level. (See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

18.  Inspect for the ignition timing and idle speed. (See ENGINE TUNE-UP[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)


Oil Pump Installation Note

1.  Install the oil pump gasket to the oil pump.

2.  Install the oil pump and the oil pump gasket to the engine as a single unit.
