INSPECT BLOW-BY HEATER RELAY

•  Switch the ignition off.

•  Remove the blow-by heater relay.
(See RELAY LOCATION.)

•  Inspect the blow-by heater relay.
(See RELAY INSPECTION.)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the blow-by heater relay, then go to Step 9.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT BLOW-BY HEATER

•  Inspect the blow-by heater.
(See BLOW-BY HEATER INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the blow-by heater, then go to Step 9.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSED BECAUSE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP STUCK

•  Access the simulation item E_WP using the M-MDS.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 1.5)].)

•  Using the simulation function, force-drive the electric water pump.

•  Does the electric water pump operation sound change according to the simulation function operation?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the electric water pump, then go to Step 9.

INSPECT SPEED SENSOR ASSY (TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY)

•  Reconnect all disconnected connectors.

•  Inspect the speed sensor assy (turbocharger with variable turbine geometry).
(See SPEED SENSOR ASSY (TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY) INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the speed sensor assy (turbocharger with variable turbine geometry), then go to Step 9.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT SEALING OF WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLANT PASSAGE

•  Perform the “WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION”.
(See WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Is there any leakage?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to Step 9.

No

Inspect for restriction in the water-cooled charge air cooler coolant passage.

•  If there is any malfunction:

―  Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to Step 9.

•  If there is no malfunction:

―  Go to the next step. (with active air shutter)

―  Go to Step 8. (without active air shutter)

INSPECT ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER FOR OPERATION MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the active air shutter.
(See ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER INSPECTION.)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the active air shutter, then go to Step 9.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

•  Inspect the instrument cluster.
(See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION.)

•  Is the instrument cluster normal?

Yes

Visually inspect for timing chain.

•  If there is any malfunction:

―  Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to the next step.

•  If there is no malfunction:

―  Go to the next step.

No

Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step.

Verify the test results.

•  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
(See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  If a malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform the repair or diagnosis.

―  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.

―  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
