DTC P1642:00

CAN Link PCM/PCM Circuit/Network problem

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the fuel cut condition. If fuel cut cannot be performed with any of the following conditions met, the PCM determines that there is a malfunction in the CAN Link PCM/PCM Circuit/Network problem.
―  No change in CAN signal from DSC HU/CM
―  Malfunction detected in DSC HU/CM or EHPAS CM
―  CAN bus-off
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Communication error between PCM and DSC HU/CM
•  Communication error between PCM and EHPAS CM
•  PCM, DSC HU/CM and/or EHPAS CM Bus-off
•  DSC HU/CM detects malfunction
•  EHPAS CM detects malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY STORED CAN COMMUNICATION DTC IN PCM
•  Retrieve the PCM DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Is the CAN communication DTC present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY STORED DTC IN DSC HU/CM AND EHPAS CM
•  Retrieve the DSC HU/CM and EHPAS CM DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Intermittent concern exists.
Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT DTC P1642:00 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the after repair procedure.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
