Engine Tune-up Preparation

1.  Set the shift lever to the neutral position.

2.  Start the engine and warm up completely.

3.  Turn off all electrical loads with the engine idling.

4.  If the cooling fan is operating, wait until it stops.

5.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

6.  Verify that no DTC is present.

Idle Speed Inspection

Note

•  Idle speed is not adjustable.

•  Idle speed verification requires M-MDS.

1.  Perform “Engine Tune-up Preparation”. (See Engine Tune-up Preparation.)

2.  Verify that the idle speed (M-MDS: RPM PID) is within the specification using M-MDS.

•  If not as specified, inspect the following.

―  Suction control valve (See SUCTION CONTROL VALVE INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Fuel injector (See FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Accelerator pedal position sensor (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Engine coolant temperature sensor (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Fuel pressure sensor (See FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Camshaft position sensor (See CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

―  Crankshaft position sensor (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)
