Intake shutter valve actuator control system—forced engine shutdown

DETECTION CONDITION

•  The PCM monitors the engine speed for specified period after the engine shutdown. If the PCM detects that the engine speed is not dropped for specified period after the engine switch is off. The PCM determines that the engine is not shutdown.

Diagnostic support note

•  The MIL does not illuminate.

•  FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/Snapshot data is not available.

•  The DTC is not stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Engine oil deterioration (Appears an excessive oil mist in blow by gas as engine continues run)

•  Fuel injector malfunction

•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related Service Information availability. • Is any related Service Information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC • Switch the ignition to off, then to ON (engine off). • Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZR-CD 2.2].) • Are any other PENDING CODEs and/or DTCs present?	Yes	If the DTC P2459:00 or P253F:00 is displayed: • Replace the engine oil, then go to the next step. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [MZR-CD 2.2].) If the DTC P2459:00 and P253F:00 is not displayed: • Go to the applicable PENDING CODE or DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD 2.2].)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZR-CD 2.2].) • Perform the Repair Verification Drive Mode. (See OBD DRIVE MODE [MZR-CD 2.2].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Perform the “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZR-CD 2.2].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD 2.2].)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
