INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the trunk lid latch switch connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH
• Inspect the trunk lid latch switch.
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Replace the trunk lid latch switch, then go to Step 6.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.

No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Trunk lid latch switch and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the DTC B1178:11 present?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.

INSPECT LIFTGATE AUTO CLOSURE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the liftgate auto closure control module connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.

No

Go to the next step.

|
INSPECT LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Liftgate latch switch, liftgate auto closure control module and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 8.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT LIFTGATE AUTO CLOSURE CONTROL MODULE
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Measure the voltage at the liftgate auto closure control module terminal 2B (wiring harness-side).
• Is the voltage normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the liftgate auto closure control module, then go to the next step.
|

• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
