Detection Condition

• Signal error from theft-deterrent siren.

Possible Causes

• Theft-deterrent siren connector or terminals malfunction

• BCM connector or terminals malfunction

• Short to ground in wiring harness between theft-deterrent siren terminal B and BCM terminal 6H

• Short to power supply in wiring harness between theft-deterrent siren terminal B and BCM terminal 6H

• Theft-deterrent siren malfunction

• BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION

•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the DTC B10A5:86 present?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Switch the ignition to off.

•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Disconnect the theft-deterrent siren connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND

•  Theft-deterrent siren and BCM connectors are disconnected.

•  Inspect for continuity between theft-deterrent siren terminal B (wiring harness-side) and body ground.

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY

•  Theft-deterrent siren and BCM connectors are disconnected.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Switch the ignition to ON.

•  Measure the voltage at the theft-deterrent siren terminal B (wiring harness-side).

•  Can the voltage be measured?

Yes

Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN

•  Inspect the theft-deterrent siren.
(See THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN AND TILT SENSOR INSPECTION.)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the theft-deterrent siren, then go to the next step.

(See THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN AND TILT SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the DTC B10A5:86 present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT

•  Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

3	INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION • Disconnect the BCM connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND • Theft-deterrent siren and BCM connectors are disconnected. • Inspect for continuity between theft-deterrent siren terminal B (wiring harness-side) and body ground. • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 7.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY • Theft-deterrent siren and BCM connectors are disconnected. • Reconnect the negative battery cable. • Switch the ignition to ON. • Measure the voltage at the theft-deterrent siren terminal B (wiring harness-side). • Can the voltage be measured?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to Step 7.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN • Inspect the theft-deterrent siren. (See THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN AND TILT SENSOR INSPECTION.) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the theft-deterrent siren, then go to the next step. (See THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN AND TILT SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6		No	Go to the next step.
