Description

•  Communication error between rain sensor and BCM

Detection Condition

•  BCM detects the communication missing with the rain sensor continuously for 10 times.

Possible Causes

•  Rain sensor connector or terminals malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to ground in wiring harness between rain sensor terminal C and BCM terminal 7H
•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between rain sensor terminal C and BCM terminal 7H
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between rain sensor terminal C and BCM terminal 7H
•  Rain sensor malfunction
•  BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10AD:87 present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT RAIN SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the rain sensor connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Rain sensor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Rain sensor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at the rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side).
•  Can the voltage be measured?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Rain sensor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect for continuity between rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side) and BCM terminal 7H (wiring harness-side).
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to Step 8.

VERIFY RAIN SENSOR MALFUNCTION
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10AD:87 present?
Yes
Replace the rain sensor, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 9.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10AD:87 present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
9
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
