DETECTION CONDITION
|
• With the following conditions met, a condition has continued for 20 s in which the fuel pressure sensor output value is lower than the fuel pressure control target value by 25 MPa {255 kgf/cm2, 3626 psi}:
Diagnostic support note
• This is an intermittent monitor (fuel system).
• The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA/Snapshot data is available.
• DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
|
• Inhibits the auto diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
• Inhibits the compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
• Inhibits the EGR control.
• PCM restricts engine-transaxle integration control. (ATX)
• Increase the idle speed.
• Inhibits engine-stop by operating the i-stop function.

VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC
• Switch the ignition off, then ON (engine off).
• Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure.
• Are any other PENDING CODEs and/or DTCs present?

Go to the applicable PENDING CODE or DTC inspection.

No

• Inspect the fuel filter for clogging.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

• Inspect the fuel pressure relief valve.

INSPECT FOR MALFUNCTION DUE TO POOR FUEL
• Replace the fuel.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and idle it.
• Wait until the ECT PID value is above 80 °C {176 °F}.
• Wait for 1 min (idle).
• Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure.
• Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Advise the customer as to the change in the fuel used.
Go to Step 13.

|
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and idle it.
• Wait until the ECT PID value is above 80 °C {176 °F}.
• Wait for 1 min (idle).
• Perform the DTC Reading Procedure.
• Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.

DETECTION CONDITION
|
• With the following conditions met, the actual fuel pressure is 20 MPa {204 kgf/cm2, 2,901 psi} lower than the target fuel pressure for a continuous 5 s.
Diagnostic support note
• This is an intermittent monitor (fuel system).
• The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA/Snapshot data is available.
• DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
|
• Limits engine torque.
• Limits the maximum engine speed.
• Inhibits the automatic diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
• Inhibits the manual diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
• Inhibits engine-stop by i-stop control.
• Inhibits the EGR control.
• Limits the fuel pressure. (High pressure)

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY FUELDETERIORATION
• Replace the fuel.
• Refer to the [MEMORY CLEARING PROCEDURE] and clear the DTC.
• Start the engine and idle it.
• Using the M-MDS, display the PID ECT and warm up the engine to 80 °C {176 °F}
• Leave the engine idling for 1 min.
• Display the DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Has DTC P0087:00 been recorded?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No
|
Advise the customer on the condition of the fuel being used.
Go to Step 12.

|
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
• Reconnect all disconnected connectors and hoses.
• Refer to the [MEMORY CLEARING PROCEDURE] and clear the DTC.
• Race the engine to 5,000 rpm and hold for 5 s.
• Release the accelerator pedal and idle the engine.
• Display the DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Has DTC P0087:00 been recorded?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.
