•  Surrounding brightness suddenly changes such as when entering or exiting tunnel

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1
VERIFY DTCs
•  Using the M-MDS, display the DTCs related to the DSC HU/CM, EPS control module, instrument cluster, connectivity master unit (CMU) and forward sensing camera (FSC).
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY
•  Is the DSC OFF indicator light turned on?
Yes
The vehicle is normal. (Explain to the customer that the lane-keep assist system does not operate when the DSC operation is cancelled.)
Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT PHENOMENON DUE TO DETECTION PERFORMANCE LIMITATIONS
•  Refer to the new vehicle instruction and inspect the detection performance of the forward sensing camera (FSC).
•  Inspect the forward sensing camera (FSC) operation record using the M-MDS.
•  Are the applicable items for the detection performance displayed?
Yes
The vehicle is normal. (Explain to the customer that the lane-keep assist system may not operate due to the detection performance limitations of the forward sensing camera (FSC).)
Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY DRIVING CONDITION
•  Ask the customer if the condition was any of the following conditions when the malfunction occurred.
―  Driving at low vehicle speed
―  Steering wheel operation assist was turned off using personalization feature
―  Lane-keep assist system OFF switch was on
―  DSC OFF switch was on
―  Vehicle was driven on extremely narrow or wide road
―  Vehicle is driven on road with unclear or no traffic lane lines (solid line, dotted line)
―  Vehicle is driven on road where detection is not possible due to sharp curve or darkened traffic lane lines.
―  Vehicle is driven on road where road surface is reflected while driving towards sun or after rain.
―  Vehicle is driven on road where safe distance between vehicles cannot be kept due to heavy traffic.
―  Vehicle is driven through intersection, junction, or on forked road
―  Surrounding brightness suddenly changes such as when entering or exiting tunnel
•  Is any of the above driving conditions met?
Yes
The vehicle is normal.
Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT WINDSHIELD
•  Inspect the windshield visually and verify if any of the following conditions occur.
―  Windshield fogged or dirty
―  Occurrence of condensation (water droplets) on windshield or camera
―  Foreign matter caught between the windshield and the forward sensing camera (FSC)
―  Sticker adhesion on the windshield
•  Do any of the previous conditions occur?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location, then go to step 14.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY DASHBOARD
•  Are there any reflective objects installed on the upper part of the dashboard?
Yes
Verify the malfunctioning location, then go to step 14.
(Forward sensing camera (FSC) may not function correctly due to reflecting light)
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) LENS DIRT
•  Verify if the forward sensing camera (FSC) lens is dirty.
•  Is the forward sensing camera (FSC) lens dirty?
Yes
Clean the forward sensing camera (FSC) lens, then go to the next step.
