DTC P2463:00

Diesel particulate filter restriction-soot accumulation

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM calculates diesel particulate filter soot accumulation based on the exhaust gas pressure sensor signal. If the PCM calculates that soot accumulation amount is more than 11 g/L {0.69 Ib/ft3}, the PCM determines that the diesel particulate filter soot accumulation excessive.
Diagnostic support note
•  The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in first drive cycle.
•  PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Exhaust gas pressure sensor piping restriction and/or damaged
•  Diesel particulate filter restriction and/or damaged
•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2
VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION
•  Verify related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to available Service Information.
•  If vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
•  Is DTC P2463:00 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to troubleshooting procedures for DTC in FREEZE FRAME DATA.
4
INSPECT EXHAUST GAS PRESSURE SENSOR PIPING
•  Inspect exhaust pressure piping for restriction and damaged.
•  Is there any restriction and damaged?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.
5
MONITOR DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER SOOT ACCUMULATION
•  Monitor PM_ACC, PM_ACC_DSD and PM_GEN PIDs using the M-MDS.
•  Is one of the monitored value 15 g/L (0.94 lb/ft3) or more?
Yes
Replace the catalytic converter. Clear the PCM memory.
Then go to Step 7.
No
Perform injection amount correction procedure then perform manual diesel particulate filter regeneration procedure.
Then go to the next step.
Note
•  If any of the below DTCs are stored in the PCM, manual regeneration will be blocked by the PCM. Carry out the appropriate DTCs inspection procedure first. Then, perform manual regeneration procedure again.

*:For P242F:00 and P2463:00, manual regeneration will only be blocked if an excessive amount of soot is in the diesel particulate filter.
6
INSPECT FOR RESTRICTION OR CLOGGED IN DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER
•  Start the engine and warm up to normal operation temperature.
•  Monitor EXHPRESS PID using the M-MDS at idle.
•  Is the EXHPRESS PID value less than 4.0 kPa {30 mmHg, 1 inHg}?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Visually inspect diesel particulate filter.
If damaged or deterioration found, replace the catalytic converter. Clear the PCM memory.
Then go to the next step.
7
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P2463:00 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Switch the ignition to ON (engine off).
•  Clear the DTC from PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
