Malfunction Location

•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) circuit malfunction


Detection Condition

•  Short to ground detected in trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) circuit with the ignition switch on


Possible Causes

•  Short circuit to ground in wiring harness between trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal B and BCM connector terminal 6E
•  Short circuit to ground in wiring harness between trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal A and BCM connector terminal 6A
•  Short circuit to ground in wiring harness between keyless control module connector terminal 3G and BCM connector terminal 6E
•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) malfunction
•  Keyless control module malfunction
•  BCM malfunction

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is DTC B10D0:11 displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN) CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal B.
•  Can the voltage be measured?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN)
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN).
•  Is the trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN).
After replacement, go to Step 11.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND
•  Inspect for continuity between trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal A and body ground.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair/replace the wiring harness.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.
No
Go to Step 11.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.

INSPECT KEYLESS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the keyless control module connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND
•  Inspect for continuity between trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal B and body ground.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair/replace the wiring harness.
After repair procedure, go to Step 11.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT KEYLESS CONTROL MODULE
•  Reconnect the keyless control module.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at the keyless control module connector terminal 3G.
•  Is the voltage normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the keyless control module.
After replacement, go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC
•  Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable.
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are there other DTCs output?
Yes
Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 9.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) connector terminal B.
•  Can the voltage be measured?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD) /LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WGN)
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN).
•  Is the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN) normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the trunk lid opener switch (4SD) /liftgate opener switch (5HB, WGN).
After replacement, go to Step 9.

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 9.

Yes
Repair/replace the wiring harness.

No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 9.

Yes
Repair/replace the wiring harness.
After repair procedure, go to the next step.
No
