Malfunction Location

•  Transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX) circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

•  Short to power supply in transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX) circuit with the shift lever in R position (transaxle range switch {ATX} /back-up light switch {MTX} on)

Possible Causes


ATX

•  Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between transaxle range switch connector terminal D and BCM connector terminal 2H
•  Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between back-up light connector terminal A and BCM connector terminal 7A
•  Transaxle range switch malfunction
•  BCM malfunction


MTX

•  Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between back-up light switch connector terminal B and BCM connector terminal 2H
•  Short circuit to power supply in wiring harness between back-up light connector terminal A and BCM connector terminal 7A
•  Back-up light switch malfunction
•  BCM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the shift lever in R position (transaxle range switch {ATX} /back-up light switch {MTX} on).
•  Is DTC C1137:12 displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT TRANSAXLE RANGE SWITCH (ATX) /BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH (MTX) CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX) connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT TRANSAXLE RANGE SWITCH (ATX) /BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH (MTX)
•  Inspect the transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX).
•  Is the transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX) normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the transaxle range switch (ATX) /back-up light switch (MTX).
After replacement, go to Step 6.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the connector or terminal.
After repair procedure, go to Step 6.

INSPECT REVERSE GEAR SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY
ATX
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage of the following connector terminals.
―  Transaxle range switch connector terminal D
―  Back-up light connector terminal A
•  Can the voltage be measured?
MTX
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage of the following connector terminals.
―  Back-up light switch connector terminal B
―  Back-up light connector terminal A
•  Can the voltage be measured?
Yes
Repair/replace the malfunctioning vehicle wiring harness.
After repair procedure, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC
•  Reconnect the disconnected connectors and the negative battery cable.
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the shift lever in R position (transaxle range switch {ATX} /back-up light switch {MTX} on).
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are there other DTCs output?
Yes
Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
