Description

Auto leveling sensor circuit malfunction

Detection condition
•  AFS control module detects abnormal auto leveling sensor voltage continuously for 10 s while ignition is switched ON
Possible cause
•  Auto leveling sensor connector or terminal malfunction
•  AFS control module connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal G
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal E
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal G
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal E
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
•  Rear auto leveling sensor malfunction
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal G
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal E
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
•  AFS control module malfunction

INSPECT AUTO LEVELING SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative (−) battery cable.
•  Disconnect the auto leveling sensor connector.
•  Verify the connector connection, connection condition, or that there is no damage, deformation, corrosion, and disconnection of the terminal.
•  Is there any malfunctioning part?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AFS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the AFS control module connector.
•  Verify the connector connection, connection condition, or that there is no damage, deformation, corrosion, and disconnection of the terminal.
•  Is there any malfunctioning part?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTO LEVELING SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Verify that the rear auto leveling sensor and AFS control module connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following wiring harness terminals (vehicle wiring harness side) and body ground.
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal A
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal B
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal C
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTO LEVELING SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Verify that the auto leveling sensor and AFS control module connectors are disconnected.
•  Connect the negative (−) battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition ON.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the voltage at the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness).
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal A
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal B
―  Auto leveling sensor terminal C
•  Is there any voltage?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTO LEVELING SENSOR
•  Inspect the auto leveling sensor.
•  Is there any malfunctioning part?
Yes
Replace the auto leveling sensor, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTO LEVELING SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Verify that the auto leveling sensor and AFS control module connectors are disconnected.
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness).
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal G
―  Front auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal A and AFS control module terminal D
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal B and AFS control module terminal E
―  Rear auto leveling sensor terminal C and AFS control module terminal M
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness and go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative (−) battery cable.
•  Inspect for AFS DTCs.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the AFS control module, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY OTHER DTC DISPLAYED
•  Verify if other DTCs are displayed.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Perform troubleshooting according to the corresponding DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
