Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY AUTO LEVELING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Verify that the auto leveling warning light condition.
•  Does the auto leveling warning light illuminate 3 s after switching the ignition to ON.
Yes
Perform the symptom “No.1 Auto leveling warning light illuminates when the ignition is switched to ON” troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN AUTO LEVELING SENSOR OR ELSEWHERE
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Turn on the head light in low position.
•  Jump the DLC-2 terminal B to GND using a jumper wire.
•  Verify that the optical axis movement.
•  Does the optical axis move up and down both side?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.
3
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE AND HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR
•  Inspect for open or short circuit in wiring harness at auto leveling function does not operate.
Right-side:
―  Auto leveling control module terminal J—front combination light (RH) terminal 1C
―  Auto leveling control module terminal I—front combination light (RH) terminal 1E
―  Auto leveling control module terminal L—front combination light (RH) terminal 1F
Left-side:
―  Auto leveling control module terminal J—front combination light (LH) terminal 1C
―  Auto leveling control module terminal K—front combination light (LH) terminal 1E
―  Auto leveling control module terminal L—front combination light (LH) terminal 1F
•  Is open or short circuit detected?
Yes
Repair or replace for open or short circuit.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR OR ELSEWHERE
•  Replace the suspected side front combination light.
•  Does the auto leveling adjust optical axis of the headlight for vehicle posture?
Yes
Troubleshooting completed.
(The malfunction is in headlight leveling actuator.)
No
Replace the auto leveling control module.
5
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE AND HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR
•  Inspect for open or short circuit in wiring harness.
Right-side:
―  Auto leveling control module terminal J—front combination light (RH) terminal 1C
―  Auto leveling control module terminal L—front combination light (RH) terminal 1F
Left-side:
―  Auto leveling control module terminal J—front combination light (LH) terminal 1C
―  Auto leveling control module terminal L—front combination light (LH) terminal 1F
•  Is open or short circuit detected?
Yes
Repair or replace for open or short circuit.

INSPECT REAR AUTO LEVELING SENSOR
•  Inspect the rear auto leveling sensor.
•  Is the rear auto leveling sensor normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the rear auto leveling sensor.
9
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL LINE OR ELSEWHERE
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the auto leveling control module connector.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage between auto leveling control module harness side connector terminal R and GND.
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Repair or replace for short to power supply.
No
Go to the next step.
10
INSPECT IF THE MALFUNCTION IS IN VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL LINE OR ELSEWHERE
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect auto leveling control module and instrument cluster connectors.
•  Verify that the continuity for following:
―  Auto leveling control module terminal R—GND (normal condition: not continuity)
―  Auto leveling control module terminal R—instrument cluster terminal 2O (normal condition: continuity)
•  Are there continuity.
Yes
Replace the auto leveling control module.
