REAR DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Removal/Installation

1.  Disconnect the ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness connector (axle side) and secure the wiring harness to an appropriate place where it will not be pulled by mistake while servicing the vehicle.

2.  Disconnect the parking brake cable.

3.  Remove the brake caliper component and brake hose bracket, then support the brake caliper to the vehicle.

4.  Remove the disc plate.

5.  Remove the rear coil spring. (See REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/ INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the nuts and disconnect the upper and lower ball joints.

Caution
•  Support the wheel knuckle securely.

7.  Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear knuckle from the vehicle.

Note
•  Mark the position of the knuckle bolt and cam assembly for correct installation.

8.  Remove and discard the locknut.

9.  Disconnect the shock absorber lower bolt (member side).

10.  Loosen the upper arm rod bolt (member side).

11.  Loosen the lower arm rod bolt (member side).

12.  Disconnect the rear drive shaft from the knuckle, then remove the rear drive shaft.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

14.  After installation, inspect the rear wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)
