•  ATF
•  Improper pressure
•  Internal or external linkage malfunction
•  Control valve body malfunction
•  Oil filter and seal component malfunction
•  Oil pump malfunction
•  Drive plate malfunction
•  Turbine shaft to forward/coasting/direct (F/C/D) clutch cylinder malfunction
•  Torque converter malfunction
•  Chain and sprocket component malfunction
•  Park mechanism malfunction
•  Joint shafts malfunction
•  Final drive and differential component malfunction
•  Planetary gear sets (Differential) malfunction

Go to the next step
2
Improper pressures
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Low line pressure
―  No line pressure
Yes
If the pressure is low, inspect the following components: Control valve body, oil filter and seal component, oil pump
Go to step 4
If normal, proceed to the turbine shaft
Inspect the torque converter pump shaft and component
Go to step 7
No
Go to the next step

Internal or external shift linkages
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Damage
―  Misadjustment
―  Misassembly
Yes
Service if necessary
No
Go to step 10
4
Control valve body
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Bolts are not tightened to the specification
―  Gaskets are damaged
―  Pressure plate/gasket are damaged or missing
―  Main regulator valve, manual valve are stuck, damaged, plugged, or missing, “Z” Link is not connected

Oil filter and seal component
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Filter/seal is damaged, plugged, or missing
―  Recirculating seal is damaged or out of position

Oil pump
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Bolts are not tightened to the specification
―  Gasket is damaged, missing
―  Porosity/cross leaks, or passage (s) are blocked
―  Pump support seal rings are missing
―  Oil pump shaft is broken or damaged

Drive plate
•  Do any of the following problems exist?

Turbine shaft to forward/coasting/direct clutch cylinder housing

―  Studs are broken or damaged
―  Splines are damaged
―  Internal blades are damaged or broken

Joint shaft

Final drive and differential component
•  Do any of the following malfunctions exist?
―  Splines are damaged
―  Gear set is damaged

Planetary gear sets (differential)
•  Are there any malfunctions with the following?
―  Gear Teeth
―  Carriers
―  Splines
Yes
Service if necessary
No
The problem is resolved

•  Verify the test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
