Disassembly

2. When removing the bolt, hold the pressure plate in place as shown in the figure.

3. Remove the pressure plate and adjustment shim.

(1) Thread an 8×1.25 mm {0.31×0.05 in} bolt into magnetic clutch to force it from the compressor shaft.

(2) Lift the pressure plate and adjustment shim from the compressor shaft.

4. Remove the snap ring.

5. Remove the A/C compressor pulley using the SST.

6. Remove the stator using the SST.

Caution

• Do not use air tools. The stator can be easily damaged.

Assembly

1. Clean the stator and pulley mounting surfaces.

2. Install the stator using the SST.

3. Install the A/C compressor pulley using the SST.

4. Install the snap ring with the bevel side out.

5. Place one nominal thickness shim inside the spline opening.

6. Install the pressure plate.

7. When installing the bolt, hold the pressure plate in place as shown in the figure.

8. Adjust the magnetic clutch clearance. (See MAGNETIC CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT.)
