NO.40 O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN O/D OFF SWITCH IS NOT TURNED TO ON [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)]


40	O/D OFF indicator light illuminates when O/D OFF switch is not turned to ON
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• O/D OFF switch malfunction


STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	• Inspect the O/D OFF switch • Is the O/D OFF switch normal?	Yes	Go to the next step
1		No	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts
2	• Inspect the voltage at the following PCM terminal (See PCM INSPECTION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See PCM INSPECTION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].) • O/D OFF indicator light signal • Is terminal voltage normal?	Yes	Inspect for a short circuit or disconnected connector in the wiring harness between the following • O/D OFF indicator light and PCM
2		No	Replace the PCM (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)
3	• Verify the test results. - If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. - If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. • If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed. • If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
