TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH INSTALLATION [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)]

Note
• Make sure the transaxle is in the N position.

1. Install the TR switch and temporarily tighten the bolts.

2. Using the SST, align the TR switch and tighten the bolts.

3. Connect the TR switch connector.

4. Install the thermostat housing. (See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

5. Install the air cleaner component.

6. Install the air hose and air cleaner cover.

7. Install the crankcase vent hose and MAF sensor connector.

8. Verify that there is no blockage or kinks, and the vent hose routing is correct.

9. Install the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3, AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Note
• If the battery has been disconnected then reconnected, the vehicle may need to be driven 160 km {100 miles} or more for the PCM to relearn the control strategy.

11. Inspect the parking brake control engagement for correct operation.

• The engine should start only in the P and N positions.
• Back-up light should be active only in the R position.
