Diagnostic Procedures

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT REAR FOG LIGHT RELAY GROUND FOR SHORT CIRCUIT
Disconnect the rear fog light connector.
Measure the resistance between the following terminals and ground. - Rear fog light relay terminal A and ground - Rear fog light relay terminal D and ground
Does the resistance exceed 10,000 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
2
INSPECT REAR FOR LIGHT RELAY VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the rear fog light switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at rear fog light relay terminals D and A.
Does the voltage exceed 10 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
3
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESSES FOR CONTINUITY
Measure the resistance between rear fog light relay terminal B and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
4
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESSES FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
Measure resistance between the rear fog light relay terminal E and instrument cluster terminal 2D.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
5
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESSES FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Disconnect the rear fog light switch connector.
Measure the resistance between rear fog light switch terminal D and instrument cluster terminal 2F.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
6
INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESSES FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Measure the resistance between rear fog light switch terminal B and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
7
INSPECT REAR FOR LIGHT SWITCH
Inspect the rear fog light switch. (See REAR FOG LIGHT SWITCH INSPECTION.)
