Crankcase Cracks In Area Ref. Carrier (Note on Installation)

Cause / Remedy:
The refrigerant compressor carrier is distorted and was therefore attached to the crankcase under tension.

When mounting the refrigerant compressor carrier to the crankcase during engine removal and installation, it is necessary to observe tension-free assembly.

Check the carrier for distortion. All contact points must rest against the crankcase without gap. This condition must be verified before mounting the carrier. The bolts must be tightened in the following sequence:







1 Tighten bolts (17, 6 and 5) finger-tight
2 Tighten bolts (17) at the engine front
3 Tighten bolt (6) and nut (5) at the side of the engine.
