The support for the stop bracket on the windshield (lower left) has been included in an extended, widened, support (figure 1).

Production Cut-off: Phased in since November 1981

Repair Instructions If there are complaints because of noise in the front left air inlet area in a vehicle with the previous support, then the following remedial measures should be taken:

1. Remove left-hand air inlet grille.
2. Loosen left-hand stop bracket and bend the support slightly upwards.
3. Remove separator below the support (figure 2, arrow).
4. Insert buffer 116 987 04 39 between support and fire wall (watch for tight seat).
5. Mount stop bracket and air inlet grille.

Buffer is available from your local Mercedes-Benz parts depot.
