Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Rear Wheel Alignment

Always adjust toe-in starting at maximum possible toe-out to specified toe-in value and distribute evenly between the two wheels. The toe-in can be adjusted with the eccentric bolt (60a) on the mount for the right and left track rod (60) on the rear axle carrier (50). Tightening torque is 70Nm.

The rear axle camber results from the vehicle level whereby a corresponding rear wheel camber is assigned to a particular vehicle level.

St+ = Positive Camber
St- = Negative Camber

Excessive deviations in the rear wheel camber can result from the following causes:

Difference in level between the right and left side of vehicle is too high.

Camber Strut is bent.

Accident damage to frame floor. Differences in level of mounting points for rear axle carrier between left and right side of body.
