Checking Compressor Oil Level

Checking and Correcting Oil Level in A/C Compressor

- Remove A/C compressor. Remove/Install A/C Compressor

- If the A/C compressor is replaced, the oil from the removed compressor should be allowed to drain while the compressor is held with the vacuum and pressure openings pointed down. The oil should be allowed to drain from the pressure and vacuum ports for approx. 10 minutes. The draining process can be accelerated by repeated rotating of the input shaft (clutch).

- Drain the oil from the new A/C compressor.

- Determine how much oil has drained from the oil A/C Compressor and the pipes. Add the same amount of oil to the new compressor through the vacuum port, then add a further 10 cm3 for the new dryer.

- When the A/C Compressor is repaired (e.g. front shaft seal) replace the dryer and add an additional 20 cm3 new oil to the compressor.

- Install A/C Compressor. Remove/Install A/C Compressor
