Engine Timing Marks
Engine Basic Timing MarksSetting TDC:
Insure that the No. 1 cylinder is in the TDC position.
Check that the
camshaft mark is aligned with mark on
camshaft bearing cap. If marks are aligned the engine is in time.
Early Model CamshaftMarking Cam Gear:
Late Model CamshaftIf the marks do not align, it is necessary to adjust camshaft timing. Refer to
Camshaft Adjustments for procedure.
