Spark Plug: Service and Repair

PRECEDING WORK
Before removing the spark plugs, the Intake air cross pipe must be removed.
This component must be reinstalled after replacing the spark plugs.

Spark Plug Replacement:





REMOVAL
1. Turn ignition OFF.
2. Unclip cable duct (12).
3. Remove cable duct cover (5/1).
4. Remove guide rail (5/2).
5. Remove spark plug connectors (arrow).
6. Remove ignition coils with wires attached (T1/1, T1/2, T1/3).
7. Clean out recesses with compressed air.
8. Clean and inspect ignition cables.
9. Remove spark plugs (R4).

Ignition Coil:





INSTALLATION
1. Adjust spark plug gap to:

0.8 mm (0.031 in)

2. Install spark plugs and torque to:

25 - 30 Nm (18.5 - 22.1 ft.lb.)

3. Install ignition coils. Guide pin (W) must have good connection to chassis ground.
T1 = Ignition coil.
Ta = Terminal direct to spark plug.
Tb = Terminal to ignition wire.
W = Ignition coil ground.

4. Install in reverse order. Be sure to route all the wires correctly.
