Checking and Adjusting Front Wheel Toe-In

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Fix steering wheel in center position using locking device (055) tool No. 129 589 01 21 00, or equivalent.
- Use a support with soft foam steering wheels
- If the holder is installed for a long period, pressure marks on the steering wheel are avoided.





2. Check center position of steering gear and steering wheel
- The steering gear is in the center position hen the marking lines (arrows) are above each other.
- Offset the steering wheel by a maximum of one tooth if necessary





3. Install, remove wheel spreader (030) on the inside of the wheel in the forward direction of travel
- The flexible mount of the wishbones results in a correspondingly large toe-in value which reduces to the correct dimension in the ready-to-drive condition





4. Adjust toe-in by rotating the track rods (10)
- Observe swivelling range of the track rods.
- Specifications: 0°20' ±10'

5. When adjustments are complete, tighten as follows:
- Holder: 20 Nm
- Clamp: 50 Nm
