Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Cassette Mode, Function

Block diagram of COMAND cassette mode, illustrated with the following equipment:

- Sound system (code 810)

The marked elements are the components which are essentially used for cassette mode.

A 3.5 mm standard jack is installed in the glove compartment with which a standard walkman or discman can be connected. The audio signals are preamplified by the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) and the desired tone settings made (volume, bass, trebble and fader). The sound system amplifier (N40/3) (only with code 810) is responsible for final amplification of the signals before they are fed to the vehicle loudspeakers (see figure).
