Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair



AR91.60-P-0622G Remove/Install Airbag/Emergency Tensioning Retractor Control Module






1 Connector
2 Screw
3 Ground lead
N2/2 ETR control module with airbag (AB)
W26 Ground, SRS control module

NOTE: It is necessary to replace the SRS control module with airbag (N2/2) when the airbag has been triggered three times. Always replace the crash shut-off relay (generator/battery) (K56) after one of the airbags or side airbags has been triggered or following a severe rear end collision. (Crash shut-off relay [K56] only on model 170.44)

Removing, Installing:
1. Disconnect ground lead from battery.
2. Remove cover on center console.
3. Remove cover on shift lever.
4. Remove ashtray housing with stowage compartment at front of center console.
5. Disconnect [1] on ETR control module with airbag (N2/2).
6. Remove screws [2].
7. Remove ETR control module [N2/2].
8. Reinstall in opposite order.
9. Set parameters and program new ETR control module [N2/2].

Installation Notes:
- Ensure that the ground lead (3) is fastened to the rear left screw - ground for control module.
- The arrow (4) on the control module housing must point toward the front of the vehicle!
