Location
The Bluetooth antenna is located in the telephone compartment in the center console under the armrest on the rear of the service flap.

Depending on the equipment version, one of the following audio devices is installed (hereinafter called "Audio unit"):
- Radio (A2), with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio or with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer
- Radio and navigation unit (A2/56), with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio or with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3), with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer

Reception of signals
- Receiving mobile phone signals or data via air interface from the Bluetooth module (A34/7) (comfort telephony), with code (386) Mobile phone
- Receiving mobile phone signals and data via air interface and the mobile phone antenna from the Bluetooth interface (basic telephony) integrated in the mobile phone, except code (386) Mobile phone or with code (498) Japan version
- Reception of mobile telephone signals and data via discrete line from "Audio unit"

To be able to operate a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone that is authorized on the "audio unit" in the vehicle in vehicles without code (386) Mobile phone, it has to support the Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5.

On vehicles with code (498) Japan version, a Bluetooth- compatible mobile phone can only be operated when a mobile phone is not connected to the cell phone separation point (X39/37) or the mobile phone adapter cable. Here too, the mobile phone must be authorized on the "audio unit" and must support the Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5.

Converting signals
The Bluetooth antenna converts the mobile phone signals and mobile phone data to electrical signals and vice versa.
