Lock
Actuate "Lock" transmit button (1):
^ Press once (global locking) with code (880a) Locking system with infrared remote control
^ Press and hold down while pointing at IR receiver (convenience closing)

Unlock
Actuate "Unlock" transmit button (2):
^ Press once when set to "selective" (driver's door, inner compartments and flank flap are locked)
^ Press once when set to "global" (unlocks all)
^ Press twice when set to "selective" (unlocks all) with code (880a) Locking system with infrared remote control
^ Press and hold down while pointing at IR receiver (convenience closing)

Switches unlocking from "selective" to "global" or vice versa
^ Press "Lock" transmit button (1) and "Unlock" transmit button (2) simultaneously and hold for 5 s until LED "Battery check" (4) flashes twice

Panic alarm (with code (763) Radio remote control with panic switch)
^ Press "Panic alarm" transmit button (6) (t > 1 s actuate, t > 0.5 s end)

Trunk lid remote opening
^ Press "Remote trunk release transmit button (3) (t > 0.5 s)

Drive authorization
When the transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted into key opening in the EIS control module, the key is supplied with voltage via an induction coil. Data is exchanged via the infrared transmission and receiving unit for the purpose of verifying drive authorization.

Lock/unlock vehicle doors and trunk lid
When the transmit buttons (1, 2, 3) are pressed, a radio signal is sent by the transmitter key (A8/1). This signal is checked for validity and the vehicle doors and the trunk lid are than locked or unlocked.
On vehicles with code (880a) Locking system with infrared remote control, an infrared signal is transmitted in addition to the radio signal.

Mechanical key
The mechanical key (7) can be removed from the transmitter key (A8/1) after the unlocking slider (5) is actuated.When the vehicle is locked or unlocked with the mechanical key (7) the central locking is not actuated The anti-theft alarm (ATA) (with code (551a) is not disarmed.

Battery check
When the transmit buttons (1, 2, 3) is actuated the LED "Battery check" (4) comes on momentarily and indicates the proper state of the batteries (two head cells) in the transmitter key (A8/1).

Convenience feature
(with code (880a) Locking system with infrared remote control)
The signals for convenience actuation are only transmitted via infrared, not via radio.

Panic alarm
(with code (763) Radio remote control with panic switch)
When the transmit button "Panic alarm" (6) is pressed, the panic alarm is started for 1 s; when the button (6) is pressed again or when the transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted into the key opening on the EIS control module, the panic alarm is interrupted.
