Operating instruction
A call is accepted or rejected via:
- Buttons on the mobile phone
- Telephone buttons or keypad on the "audio unit"
- Multifunction steering wheel button group
- Voice control of the VCS [SBS] (accepting only), with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer

Function sequence, call signal
The mobile phone receives a call signal in the following way:
- Rod antenna (A28)
- Direct line
- Left antenna amplifier module (A2/64)
- Direct line
- Cradle

Information about the caller is displayed on the mobile phone's screen. The display on the mobile phone's screen is forwarded internally.
At the same time, the call signal is forwarded to the "audio equipment" in the following way:
- Cradle
- Bluetooth module
- Bluetooth antenna (A2/91)
- Direct line

The "audio unit" in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, transmits the ring tone to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). From there, the ring tone is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group (H4/1)
- Right door speaker group (H4/2)
- Left rear speaker (H4/7)
- Right rear speaker (H4/8)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left door tweeter (H4/33)
- Right door tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

At the same time, the "audio unit" mutes the currently active audio source (e.g. in radio mode) (MUTE). This takes place internally in the "audio unit".
The caller identification is displayed by the "audio unit" on the screen of the "audio unit".

Additionally, the display of the caller identification is generated via interior CAN in the instrument cluster (A1).

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter

With basic telephony, the mobile phone receives the call signal via the mobile phone antenna. The call signal is then forwarded to the "audio unit" in the following way:
- Mobile phone antenna
- Bluetooth antenna
- Direct line

Function sequence, accept call over mobile phone buttons
Pressing the "Accept call" button on the mobile phone serves to accept the call in hands-free mode. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Accept call function sequence over telephone keys or keypad on "audio unit"
The call signal serves to display the caller identification on the screen of the "audio unit". When the "Accept phone call" button on the "audio unit" is pressed or the "Accept" function is selected via the keypad on the "audio unit", the call is accepted in hands-free mode.
The control signals from the buttons on the "audio unit" are processed internally.

Function sequence, accept call over multifunction steering wheel button groups
The call is accepted in hands-free mode by pressing the accept/ terminate phone call button (S111s3) in the corresponding subfield. The control signal from the accept and terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "audio unit" via the following components:
- Steering LIN
- Steering column tube module (N80)
- Interior CAN

Accept call function sequence over VCS [SBS], with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
Voice control of the VCS [SBS] is activated by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) on the steering column tube module. The control signal from the VCS [SBS] switch is forwarded to the "audio equipment" via the following components:
- Direct line
- Steering column tube module
- Interior CAN

A signal tone is emitted after the voice control system has been activated.
The signal tone in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, is transmitted by the "audio equipment" to the amplifier for sound system via MOST.

From there, the signal tone is transmitted over direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker

The call is accepted with the corresponding voice command. The voice commands are registered by the hands-free system microphone group (B25) and forwarded via a direct line to the "audio equipment".

The individual voice commands are listed in the "Linguatronic operator's manual".

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter

Function sequence, telephone call in hands-free mode
After the call has been accepted, the "audio unit" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:
- Rod antenna
- Direct line
- Left antenna amplifier module
- Direct line
- Cradle
- Bluetooth module
- Bluetooth antenna
- Direct line

The voice input in hands-free mode (except "private mode") is registered by the hands-free system microphone group and forwarded via a direct line to the "audio equipment".

The voice output (except "private mode") in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, is conducted by the "audio equipment" to the amplifier for sound system via MOST. From there, the voice output is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left door speaker group
- Right door speaker group
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left door tweeter
- Right door tweeter

For basic telephony, the "audio unit" transmits or receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:
- Mobile phone antenna
- Bluetooth antenna
- Direct line

In general, the telephone connection is established in hands- free mode for basic telephony and for comfort telephony after accepting the call.
With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is taken out of the cradle after establishing the phone connection in handsfree mode and thus disconnected from the "audio unit", then the phone call is conducted in "private mode".
With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is inserted into the cradle again during an ongoing phone call, the phone call is conducted again in handsfree mode.

Function sequence, reject call over mobile phone buttons
Pressing the "End" button on the mobile phone rejects the call. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Reject call function sequence over telephone keys or keypad on "audio unit"
The call is rejected by pressing the "END" button on the "audio unit" or by activating the "END" function in the "ComTEL/telephone" menu item. The control signals from the telephone buttons on the "audio unit" are processed internally.

Function sequence, reject call over multifunction steering wheel button groups
Pressing the accept/terminate phone call button in the corresponding subfield rejects the call. The control signal from the accept and terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "audio unit" via the following components:
- Steering LIN
- Steering column tube module
- Interior CAN
