Location
The communications control unit is located on an equipment carrier behind the access door in the stowage compartment below the armrest in the center console.

Task
- Interface from and to mobile phone between COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and the mobile phone connected to the cell phone separation point as well as the adapter cable

The communication control unit also performs the following tasks:

- 5 V power supply from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Switch-on or switch off signal from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Voice signals from hands-free system microphone group (B25) over COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Mobile phone signals and data from COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Control signals from following components over COMAND operating, display and controller unit:
- Telephone buttons or keypad on COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

- Control signals from mobile phone buttons over adapter cable and cell phone separation point from mobile phone
- Mobile phone signals and data over adapter cable and cell phone separation point from mobile phone
- Voice signals via the adapter cable and the cell phone separation point from the mobile phone

Only the communication control unit is supplied with power (5 V). The mobile phone is not supplied with power via the cell phone separation point or the adapter cable, i.e., the mobile phone is not charged.

The connection of the mobile phone to the rod antenna (A28) takes place in the following way:
