GF54.65-P-0001SK Parktronic System (PTS), Function

GF54.65-P-0001SK Parktronic System (PTS), Function
- with CODE (220) Parktronic System (PTS)

Component Identification:

Overall description
The Parktronic system (PTS) is an ultrasonic measuring system for detecting the distance to an obstacle. In the process it assists the driver to estimate the distances to obstacles in front of and behind the vehicle.
When driving forwards the area in front of the vehicle is monitored. When reversing the area in front of and behind the vehicle.

Function requirements
- circuit 15 ON
- Parking brake not operated
- Speed < 16 km/h

In addition when driving forwards:
- Selector lever in position "D" (with transmission 722)
- "reverse gear engaged" signal is not applied

In addition when reversing:
- The "reverse gear engaged" signal is applied or
- Selector lever in position "N" (with transmission 722)

Function
The distance between the vehicle and obstacle is detected by the front bumper PTS sensor unit (A42) or rear bumper PTS sensor unit (A43) and passed on to the Parktronic control unit (N62).
Taking into account the double distance (to and fro) and the speed of sound, the Parktronic control unit (N62) calculates the distance to the obstacle.
The Parktronic control unit (N62) actuates the appropriate center instrument panel PTS warning indicator (A44/4) or rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3) corresponding to the calculated values.

Visual warning:
- Yellow and red LEDs a The brightness of the LEDs depends on the day/night signal from the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

Acoustic warning:
- Intermittent signal up to continuous signal.

Manual deactivation
The Parktronic system (PTS) can be switched on and off manually via the PTS OFF switch (N72/1s8) in the upper control panel control unit (N72/1).

Feedback takes place via a red luminous LED in the PTS OFF switch (N72/1s8).

The Parktronic system (PTS) is activated automatically again during the next ignition sequence.

Automatic deactivating
When 18 km/h is exceeded the Parktronic system (PTS) goes into standby mode, i.e. the center instrument panel PTS warning indicator (A44/4) and rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3) are deactivated. The front bumper PTS sensor unit (A42) and rear bumper PTS sensor unit (A43) remain active.
From a speed of 40 km/h the entire Parktronic system (PTS) is deactivated by the Parktronic control unit (N62).
