GF82.61-P-0001-07RC Auto Pilot System (APS), Switch On And Switch Off Characteristics
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- with CODE (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer

General
The switch on/off characteristic comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Activating the overall system
^ Conduct when pushing "ON" button
^ Switch-off characteristics
^ Switch off characteristics at undervoltage
^ Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached

Activating the overall system
When the vehicle is opened, all data bus systems are activated to ensure a faster switch-on procedure. After inserting the transmitter key (A8/1) into the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) and turning it into position 1 ("circuit 15R ON") the display on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on provided it was on before the transmitter key was last removed.

The system that was active before the transmitter key was removed last (e.g. radio tuner) is switched on and the corresponding start menu is displayed. If the radio and navigation unit was switched off, a warning notice is always shown with general information on using the system.

Conduct when pushing "ON" button
The radio and navigation unit can also be switched on when the transmitter key is removed by pressing the "ON" button ("circuit 15R OFF"). All the functions are then available for t = 30 minutes Then the radio and navigation unit switches off automatically.

Switch-off characteristics
The radio and navigation unit are switched off when the transmitter key ("circuit 15C OFF") is removed. The run-on time of t = 30 min. (standby) of the navigation system starts.

During the run-on time, all the important localizing parameters remain stored. The audio system's run-on time can be configured and is set when the radio and navigation unit are installed in the factory. The switched-off radio and navigation unit is always in "standby" if the interior CAN is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage
If the battery (G1) suffers from undervoltage, a message is shown on the display of the radio and navigation unit asking for the engine to be switched on.
If the engine is not started, after t = 3min another warning is issued stating that 10 s remain for switching on the engine before the audio system shuts down.

If the audio system has been switched off and the on-board power supply increases again, the radio and navigation unit does not automatically switch on again. The audio system can be switched on again manually. The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.

Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached
If the destination of the route guidance has not been reached, the navigation system in the radio and navigation unit acts as follows when the engine is shut off:
- Navigation remains active up to t = 30 min. (e.g. refueling stop). Navigation continues from where it left off after restarting the vehicle.
- After t = 30 min up to a maximum of t = 2 h, the radio and navigation unit remains in "sleep mode". The route is recalculated after restarting the vehicle and the navigation continued.
- After t = 2h a prompt is displayed after starting the vehicle asking whether the route should be recalculated.
"YES" = Route is calculated again.
"NO" = Navigation will cease.
