GF82.61-P-2002SKJ Continuous Position Finding, Function
- with CODE (498) Japan version

Constant map matching, function
Continuous positioning finding means that the current position of the vehicle is calculated. It is active when the ignition (circuit 15 ON) is switched on and is carried out by the navigation processor of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). During the switch-on phase (software is loaded), only the basic position finding (composite positioning) is available. Once the ignition is switched off all important position finding parameters are stored during a run-on time of 30 minutes. Continuous position finding uses 3 methods which supplement each other mutually and therefore guarantee extremely accurate and reliable location finding. These are:
^ Basic position finding (dead reckoning)
^ GPS position finding
^ Map-supported map matching

For manual entry of the vehicle location it is possible to enter the location on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). This may be useful after the vehicle has been transported (e.g. ferry or train) if there was no GPS reception at the start of the journey.
