General
The radio (A2) is the central operating unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the vehicle. The audio system consists of the following subfunctions which are described in separate documents:
^ Volume and tone settings
^ Telephone operation
^ Audio mode

The radio, except code (523) MB Audio 20 radio, communicates with the following control units over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST):
- Media interface control unit (N125/1), with code (518) Media interface
- Amplifier for sound system (N40/3), with code (810) Sound system
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3), with code (537) Digital radio and code (833) Great Britain version
- SDAR control unit (N87/5), with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio

The radio, except code (523) MB Audio 20 radio, acts as a gateway. It routes the signals from the interior CAN to the components of the MOST and thus forms the communications interface.

For vehicles with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio, MOST is not installed.
